Last night a DJ saved my life

Wedding and Funeral Orchestra

I can't even BEGIN to explain how awesome the Goran Bregovic concert at the Melkweg in Amsterdam two weeks ago (Nov. 13th) was. I wanted to write about it, but I didn't want it to be an inbetween post. So, there. This pretty much sums everything up: dancing Balkan-babes, bearded men complaining and cursing about the lack of rakia and the fact that you can't smoke inside, Ka-lash-ni-kov!, the Bulgarian folksingers, how the trumpets made everyone (including my brother Stefan) go crazy, calling my aunt in Belgrade, singing along with Mesecina and Caje Sukarije, dancing kolo with fellow Eastern-Europeans... Best party of the year, no doubt.
